Someday Without You

Dreams in pieces

I had a dream yesterday.
A beautiful one.
A joyful dream.
Incomplete.
Faded in glee.
In pieces.
Six.
Or seven.
I woke up fast at dawn
To save you for another day
When you are not with me.
“Dreams will someday come true,”
I said, “Indeed they do.”

I had a dream today.
A beautiful one.
A joyful dream.
Incomplete.
Fading in glee.
In pieces.
Six.
Or seven.
“Dreams come true,” you said, “Maybe not here. Maybe not now.”
I woke up.

I just had a dream.
I woke up fast.
And cried aloud:
“I guess dreams may come true. Someday.
But not you.
Not you.”
