Witness

A poem

Have you seen
The baby staring into you
While a nurse
Wraps her tiny wrists in white cloth.

When the body of the girl
Dangled from an iron rod
No legs to be seen.

Have you seen
The woman who shouted,
In disbelief.

Which one?

The white and blue and black bags,
In the ground.
Or the blood-drenched flour, that
Curdled with the sand next to the sea.

Have you seen
The body
Of the witness
To their crime.
